Watch Folders

Watch Folders

To add a watch folder:

  1. At the bottom of the Organizers panel, click + and choose New Watch Folder.

  2. Type a folder path or browse the list and choose a folder to watch.

  3. Select a synchronization setting:

When changes are found: Portfolio continually watches the folder and synchronizes with the server when a change is found.

When a user selects Synchronize Folder: The folder is synchronized manually. To synchronize, right-click the folder in the Organizers panel and choose Synchronize Folder from the shortcut menu.

At regular intervals: Choose an interval from the pop-up menu.

  4. Check Remove missing assets from Catalog to have a catalog entry removed if its associated asset is no longer present in the watch folder.

  5. Click Save to create the watch folder.

Watch Folder settings

After you create a Watch Folder, it is easy to change its settings.

  1. Double-click the Watch Folder in the Organizers panel.

  2. Change the desired settings and click Save.

Removing a Watch Folder

To have Portfolio stop watching a folder for new or changed assets, you can remove the Watch Folder from the catalog. This does not affect the folder on disk.

Normally when you remove a Watch Folder, the assets that are in it are left in the Portfolio catalog. You can choose to remove those assets when you remove the Watch Folder.

To remove a Watch Folder from a catalog:

  1. Select the Watch Folder in the folders list at the bottom of the Organizers panel.

  2. Click below the panel.

  3. To have Portfolio remove the watched assets from the catalog, check Remove Assets from Catalog. (This will not affect files on disk.)

  4. Click Remove.
