System requirements

The latest system requirements and other information is available at Portfolio System Requirements.

These requirements are the minimum necessary to reasonably use Portfolio on a regular basis.

A minimal Portfolio installation consists of a server system and a client system. A more typical setup will include a server, possibly one or more Media Engine systems, and several clients.

Portfolio and Portfolio Media Engines

  • You must have an Internet connection to activate and use of Portfolio.

    Please see Activating Portfolio for more information.

  • Windows® Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, or Windows Server 2022

    —OR—

    macOS™ 10.14, 10.15, 11.x, or 12.x

  • Intel® Xeon® processor with 8 or more cores (more processor cores will improve catalog performance)

  • 32 GB RAM

  • 100 Mbit/s or faster network connection between the Portfolio server system and asset storage (1000 Mbit/s recommended)

  • Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.5 and .NET Framework 4.5 (for Windows Server systems)*

  • Adobe® DNG Converter for converting Raw files to DNG format

* You must install the .NET Frameworks before you install Portfolio. The .NET Framework 4.5 is usually installed by default on Windows Server.

Portfolio Administration application

Requirements for any computer used for Administration. You can administer Portfolio remotely.

  • 1280×1024 or higher resolution display

  • 10 Mbit/s or faster network connection (100 Mbit/s recommended)

  • Safari® 11 or later (macOS), or the current release of Microsoft Edge, Firefox®, or Chrome™ (Windows or macOS)

Portfolio Web client

Browser-based access to Portfolio catalogs using modern Web technologies.

  • 3 GB RAM

  • 1280×1024 or higher resolution display

  • 10 Mbit/s or faster network connection (100 Mbit/s recommended)

  • Safari 11 or later (macOS), or the current release of Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Chrome (Windows or macOS)

Portfolio Desktop client

Desktop application supporting drag and drop.

  • 64-bit version of Windows 10 or 11

    —OR—

    macOS 10.14, 10.15, 11.x, or 12.x

  • 8 GB RAM

  • 1280×1024 or higher resolution display

  • 10 Mbit/s or faster network connection (100 Mbit/s recommended)

Portfolio NetPublish sites

Supported browsers for viewing NetPublish sites.

  • Microsoft Edge (for access from Windows or macOS)

  • The current release of Firefox (Windows or macOS)

  • The current release of Chrome (Windows or macOS)

  • Safari 5.1 or later (for access from macOS)
