Previewing assets

In Grid or List view, you can select one or more assets and view them in Preview mode. To view assets in Preview mode:

  • Double-click an asset;

  • Select several assets and double-click one of them.

In Map view, you can click a pin  then double-click the thumbnail to view the asset in Preview mode.

While in Preview mode, you can navigate through assets using the arrow keys or the Next  and Previous  icons. If you have selected multiple assets to preview, navigation will cycle through the assets you selected; otherwise, you can navigate through all assets in the organizer.

PDF preview controls

When you preview a PDF in Portfolio Desktop or Web, you can:

  • Zoom in or out using the buttons or popup menu at the lower left of the preview window;

  • Navigate through the PDF using the previous/next page buttons at the bottom center of the window, or enter a page number to visit;

  • Search the PDF for a phrase, then visit each occurrence of the found text using the controls at the bottom right of the window.

Preview mode controls

When you enter Preview mode, the main window shows a large image preview and, optionally, the Fields panel.

Move your mouse to temporarily reveal the asset’s filename; this will fade out when you stop moving the mouse.

Properties:

  • Click  at the top right to display the Fields panel.

  • Click  to hide the panel.

  • Drag the left edge of the Fields panel to change its size.

  • Edit properties for an individual asset in the panel.

  • When you view a different asset, its properties are displayed if the Fields panel is visible.

The visibility and size of the Fields panel are remembered between sessions.

Zoom in:

  • Click +.

  • Double-click the image.

  • Press = on the main keyboard (not the numeric keypad).

To zoom in faster, hold down the Shift key while clicking + or pressing =.

Note: You can also zoom in and out using the scroll function of your mouse.

Pan:

  • While zoomed, click and drag in the image to pan to another part of the image.

Zoom out:

  • Click −.

  • Hold down Shift and double-click the image.

  • Press − on the main keyboard.

To zoom out faster, hold down the Shift key while clicking − or pressing −.

Reset zoom:

  • Press 0 (the digit zero) on the main keyboard to reset the zoom to 100%.

Note: Zoom is not available for media clips.

Crop and download:

  • Click , drag across the image to select a crop region, then click  and choose a format to download.

    A derivative image, cropped to your specifications, will be downloaded.

Download derivative:

  • Click  and choose a format to download.

Star rating:

  • Click in the stars  to rate or change the rating.

    This is embedded in the asset’s Photoshop Rating field.

Flag:

  • Click the  to flag or un-flag the asset.

View next/previous asset:

  • Click Next  or press the right arrow key → to view the next asset.

  • Click Previous  or press the left arrow key ← to view the previous asset.

When you view a different asset, its properties are displayed if the Fields panel is visible.

Exit Preview mode:

  • Click  or press Esc.
