Manage Catalog Membership

Manage Catalog Membership

Objective: Let the right people see the right assets

Your Portfolio Server Administrator will likely initially set up your user accounts and set up a catalog for you. As a Catalog Administrator, you can access some functions within the Portfolio Server Administration interface, with setting up your Catalog as the most significant responsibility.

In the Portfolio Server Admin interface you can create multiple Catalogs. A Portfolio User can have different levels of access with different permissions on a per-catalog basis. By definition, your Portfolio Users have different configurable levels of Read/Write access. Portfolio 'Users' in this respect have the ability to add or edit existing metadata whereas, Portfolio NetPublish users only have 'Reader' level access.

Within the Catalogs tab, you can assign users to the Catalog, control metadata fields you want to be exposed in the Portfolio Client, upload a master keyword list, create a taxonomy, manage asset ingest settings (including setting up 'required' metadata field on ingest, and much more.

Let's start with granting membership to your Catalogs, via the Portfolio Server Administration web interface.

Grant Access to Catalogs

  1. Select the Catalogs tab
  2. Choose the name of the Catalog you want to grant/adjust user membership to
  3. Click on the Users column
  4. Go to the individual account, select the drop-down menu to assign their role
