Changing the default CMYK profile

When Portfolio converts an image to CMYK, it uses the CMYK color profile specified in the file ICCProfilePreferences.properties. This file can be found here:

  • Windows: C:\Program Files\Extensis\Portfolio Server\applications\media-engine\bin

  • Mac: /Applications/Extensis/Portfolio Server/applications/media-engine/Bin

Portfolio includes two CMYK color profiles:

  • USWebCoatedSWOP.icc

  • ISOcoated_v2_eci.icc

The default profile used for CMYK conversion is USWebCoatedSWOP.icc.

To change the profile:

  1. Open the file ICCProfilePreferences.properties in a text editor (Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on macOS).

  2. Change the line that reads

    • cmyk=USWebCoatedSWOP.icc

    to

    • cmyk=ISOcoated_v2_eci.icc

  3. Save and close the file.

If you are using external Media Engines, you will need to make the same change on each system.

When you have changed the file on your Portfolio and all Media Engine systems, restart the Portfolio Media Delegate service, using the steps specified within the ICCProfilePreferences.properties file.
